wedding photography can either be an investment or an expense.
Generally, the cheaper it is, the more ‘expenive’ it will prove to be in the long run.
Our prices are not the cheapest.
Shop around and you’ll find dozens of wedding photographers offering their services for a fraction of ours.
Does that mean you should choose their services?
Indeed, should you choose wedding photography services based purely on your budget?
How else should you choose a wedding photographer?
Well, that last question is actually the easiest to answer. Obviously, in an ideal world, if money were no object, you would choose a wedding photographer based on the quality of their pictures and then whether you found the photographer agreeable. (After all, who wouldn’t want someone you don’t particularly like, following you around all day would you?)
So, let’s say you love the work you see on this website, but you have a certain budget in mind and that budget is less than you feel you can afford for 1 Click Photography.
Should you just shop around for a ‘better deal’?
Wedding photography is exactly the same as anything else in life. You largely get what you pay for. Yet, it’s not just about the quoted price. There are usually ‘hidden’ costs as well.
Consider some of your normal purchases in life.
[frame]Razor Blades – You buy the Razor plus a few blades in a cheap offer and then find the cost of the blades when you come to renew, very expensive.
Printers – Buy a printer and you’re locked into inks from that manufacturer which is where companies make the real profit.
Restaurants – Try the Early Bird special and then discover that the cost of drinks and desserts are expensive. (Again, this is where they make their profits)
Washing up liquid – Branded is more expensive, but unbranded is watered down and doesn’t wash dishes as effectively.
Cheap suits – fall apart after a few weeks wear, expensive suits can last a lifetime.[/frame]
Many wedding photographers offer a very basic package price (anything under £1500)
Generally this kind of package will provide a set number of hours coverage and limited pictures.
Extras will have to be paid for and can include extra hours on the day, discs of pictures, wedding albums, engagement shoots and a whole host of other things. The copyright to the pictures will be retained by the photographer and you may be shocked to discover how much you need to spend to buy the pictures that you want.
In fact, it’s not uncommon to spend more on wedding albums and reprints than you did on the original wedding photography package in the first place.
Now ‘cheaper’ is starting to look very expensive.
This is the same as a Computer Printer being sold cheaply and then locking you into essential and often expensive ink cartridge costs forever more.
This ‘upselling’ is common practice of course, but it does rather play up to our instincts to always go for a lower price deal.

Our package price includes all of the essentials.
We never charge by the hour. (Why would you know when the best pictures will be taken? Perhaps after the dance when everyone’s really celebrating or perhaps during the prep in the morning when Dad cries tears of joy when he sees his beautiful daughter in a wedding dress for the first time)
Engagement shoots are always provided at no charge. (this is like a rehearsal for an actor. It will make sure you’re relaxed in front of the camera on your big day)
Wedding Albums are also always included since we passionately believe that these will hold more value for our clients than a simple disc of images ever will. (Oh, the disc of images is also included of course)
Our prices may look a little higher than some but we prefer to be compared on image quality and personality alone and you can be safe in the knowledge that what you pay for is all you really need.
